Tuia is an emerging writer and director based in Naarm/Melbourne, and a 2022 VCA Screenwriting graduate.

Her play, Powder Room, premiered in 2023, and received online development funding from Screen Australia for a web series adaptation.

She’s the co-creator of Lost Property, a one-woman show performed by Amelia Dunn, which premiered in Melbourne and toured Adelaide, Camden, and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, receiving an EFFTA award in Edinburgh in 2025.

She directed the web series, The Waiting Room, which premiered at Melbourne WebFest and was awarded Best Web Series 2025 at London Women Film Festival and Berlin Short Film Festival.

Tuia is fascinated by contemporary comedy-dramas that live in the messy, tender spaces of female and queer experiences. In her work, she enjoys unpacking the emotional intricacies that shape and strain the relationships within these communities.
